A thigh lift (thighplasty) is a surgical procedure designed to remove excess skin and subcutaneous fat from the thigh area where clinically indicated. This is often performed following significant weight loss or when skin elasticity has diminished, leading to functional discomfort or hygiene issues.

The procedure is performed under general anaesthetic. Depending on the patient`s anatomy and the extent of correction required, incisions may be placed in the groin fold or extend down the inner aspect of the thigh.

A valuable few days recently spent at the recent Advanced Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Workshop in Melbourne.

The workshop explored evolving approaches across aesthetic facial plastic surgery with a focus on precision, anatomical understanding, and considered technique in the Deep Plane.

It was a rewarding opportunity to spend time with colleagues and connect with guest surgeons Dr Jerry O’Connell (USA) and Dr Francisco Bravo (Spain).

Lastly, it was lovely to catch-up with Dr Keith Mutimer, Dr Graeme Southwick and Dr Bryan Mendelson, who I trained under and were formative in my interest in plastic surgery and love for facial plastic surgery. A privilege to have such esteemed mentors and teachers in my life – thank you!
