The procedure uses liposuction to take fat from other parts of the body, such as the stomach or thighs, and transfers it to the breasts.

Although implants can work well to enlarge the breasts, fat grafting can be a great option for patients who want a subtler change that feels and looks natural. We will customise your procedure in order to achieve results tailored to your body and aesthetic ideals.

What is Breast Fat Grafting?

Breast fat grafting, sometimes called autologous fat transfer, is a common breast augmentation technique. One of the main benefits of fat grafting is that it uses tissue from the patient’s own body rather than a foreign substance (like breast implants). This means the body is more likely to accept the tissue and you can better avoid complications. However, the procedure can be performed alongside implants in order to create a more natural result.

Women may seek this procedure to refine the contours of the breasts, enhance their size, and correct minor asymmetries. Since the fat is inserted just beneath the skin of the breast, patients may also see improvements in skin texture. Additionally, the procedure:

  • Restores lost volume after pregnancy or weight loss
  • Creates a better distribution of breast volume
  • Improves breast firmness and shape
  • Optimises the breast shape after reconstruction
  • Removes excess fat from other areas of the body
  • Creates subtle, natural-looking enhancement
  • Corrects breast symmetry issues

What to Expect During Your Consultation

If you are considering a breast fat grafting procedure, a consultation with Dr Richardson will help determine whether you are a good candidate. Generally, a good candidate for breast fat grafting is near their ideal weight, healthy, and does not smoke. If you are in good overall health and seeking a breast enlargement procedure without implants, this could be a great option for you.

During your consultation, you will have the opportunity to express your aesthetic concerns and what you wish to achieve from your procedure. We will inquire about your health and medical history, as well as any medications you are taking. This will allow us to walk you through your options based on your body, health, and goals. You will be able to raise any questions or concerns about the procedure so that you can make a decision that is right for you.

The Procedure

Breast fat grafting is performed under general anaesthetic, depending on the extent of the procedure. It begins with harvesting fat from the body using liposuction. Doctor Richardson will remove fat from the donor area through a narrow cannula, usually from the abdomen, thighs, back, or hips. He uses advanced liposuction technology in order to successfully remove fat without harming the surrounding tissue.

Before the fat is injected into the breasts, it needs to be processed and prepared. Purifying the fat tissue removes the fluid and oils in order to be more safely injected into the body. This reduces the risk of complications, as well as allows the fat to be more accurately injected.

Once the fat has been extracted and purified, Dr Richardson will inject it into precise areas under the breast skin in order to produce the desired results. Generally, around 70 to 80 percent of the transferred fat will survive. Due to this, you will get a little more fat injected than required to account for the portion of it that will absorb.

Cost of Breast Fat Grafting

Since some patients require a more in-depth procedure than others, the fees of breast fat grafting can vary. It is a cosmetic procedure, which means women who undergo breast fat grafting are seeking to correct aesthetic rather than health concerns. Due to this, patients will not be able to claim rebates and will have to pay for the total cost of their procedure. We can answer your questions about fees during your private consultation.

  • Reactions to anaesthesia
  • Fat necrosis
  • Fat embolism

Adherence to your aftercare instructions will help reduce your risks and produce the best possible outcome.
